Racism Awareness
UX/UI Design & Storytelling
Why did i chose this topic?
In my youth, I grew up in a small rural village in the south of Germany. We were the only Vietnamese family in this village, at the time. Although we integrated into the rural life very well and had many German friends, there were, unfortunately, some racist incidents. Evil looks, astonished eyes or even stupid sayings were part of our everyday life. Unfortunately, this everyday life still affects me in a way. Due to the Corona pandemic, stereotypes against Asians in particular have increased.
What was the project Goal?
For me personally, the topic of racism still has a very high relevance in society, which is why I decided to do this. I want to educate people, both young and old, about where racism even begins and show a view of those affected with enlightening statistics.
What was the end result of the project?
The final result of this project was a website implemented in Webflow.

Process
Topic Research
It started with research. I created a mood-board to find a style for the web story. In addition, during the search I became aware of some organizations that are actively working against racism.
Project Timeline
To plan and structure my project, I used Gustav Freytag's pyramid model.
Photography
I decided to use photography as a representation technique. Different variations were tested and finally different styles were mixed with each other.
Statistics
To integrate a factual level into my web story, statistics helped me. I presented them in the form of fists and alternated them with the stories.
Wireframing
I started with low-fidelity wireframes so I could build a basic structure. Then, I con-tinued with high-fidelity wireframes. Here it became a bit more concrete with the content.
Prototyping
After wireframing, the concept had to be tested. A clickable prototype was implemented in Figma. It was very helpful for the further process of implementation.
Development
Once the final design and concept was in Figma, this was implemented in Webflow.
