What was the project goal?
With the help of TrafficOnData, classic, static information boards at public transport stops are being replaced. At the station platform, travelers are given the opportunity to gain an insight into the rail transport system in Germany. Using an interactive touch display, they can navigate through the whole of Germany and locate stations. Based on GTFS data provided by Deutsche Bahn, the routes and stops of the Intercity and Intercityexpress are displayed within 24 hours.
What was the end result of the project?
The TrafficOnData project was implemented with the help of OpenProcessing, Mapbox, Figma and Webflow. The result was an final interface design of an application that could be operated on a 32" touchscreen from iiyama.
Process
Inspiration
MapboxStudio served as a source of inspiration. Here I could try out some variations of a map and develop different styles with template data.
Problem Analysis
The problem was the simple and fast information transfer, which was not given by old information boards and simple SMS messages.
Potential Solution
To replace outdated boards, the solution was to design an interactive app with real-time data & traffic analysis to generate better customer engagement.
My Role
The role required me to create a problem statement & hypothesis, collect data and perform the entire design process.
Product Market
To determine the target audience, I created personas. It helped me locate relevant features and focus on the “needs” of the personas.
USPs
The unique selling points of my application were primarily the linkage to real-time data, an interaction with the users, the ease of installation and the variance of the deployment location.
Competitor Analysis
During the competitive analysis, it turned out that there were no classic competitors. Rather, they were outdated scoreboards or static cards, which are difficult to read.
Final Design
Webflow was used for the final implementation. It was possible to embed the OpenProcessing Sketch and design a separate overlay (dashboard) in Webflow.
